I rise late in the morning to discover that the thunder is already booming - don't the weather faeries know that they're NOT supposed to make rain until sunset? Or at least, that's been the prevailing pattern....

Not sure how I'm going to spend the day. I was supposed to head out to [livejournal.com profile] geekchick's for grilling and company, but D. is not feeling well, and given that I try to spend most major holidays with him, we're staying in.

I could do some more writing. I sat down and worked out two posts for one of my fic/writing lists, and realized how much I miss it. I think I've been busy with other things and just intimidated by the great work of others to really apply myself. I'm currently writing a bad guy - an insane bad guy :) Villians are fun to write, but I'm trying to make this one comical as well as evil, and I'm wondering how well I'll ultimately be able to carry that off (one of my co-conspirators had the character deploy Vogon poetry as an offensive weapon :D I wish I'd thought of that!)

I could also clean up the house some. The house is harboring some nefarious insect that has the gall to bite me on the face - mosquitoes back in my day never used to be so bold :P D. is getting chewed as well, so it's time to rout this "no-see-em" out of hiding.

Also still half-heartedly looking for the donut beads. They are somewhere in my creative swamp in the basement :P

On the book pile: Added to the stack of the Tudor book and the 2nd book of the Coldfire Trilogy are some books on conflict resolution and "The Salmon of Doubt". Also a book on the history of the golden age of piracy (arr!) but who knows when I'll get to it.

Luckily I have tomorrow off (oh, happy day!), because this would feel like a very short weekend otherwise :P

I loved "The Salmon of Doubt". I also really liked the Coldfire Trilogy myself. Maybe I'll re-read those, or the "Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn" series.

(Why yes, I am online. I'll give it until 4 before I decide that no one's showing and we can decide whether to take off and go see fireworks tonight or something.)

Hope you're able to make something of the day :/ I wonder what happened to everyone?

Let me know where you want to meet for book exchange tomorrow - I'm flexible as to time place, and if I end up going ot your new place, that's cool too. :)

If nothing else, it was a good excuse to get the remaining boxes out of the dining room. ;) I have a sinking feeling that I forgot to copy someone who'd asked for directions when I sent them out, so that may be part of it. I figure otherwise it was mostly a case of "ick, it's raining, I don't want to go out". *shrug* Not a big deal.

As for tomorrow, not sure where to suggest for meeting up. If you wanted to come out this way, there's a coffee shop here that I've never tried (as well as a Starbucks and their yummy strawberries and cream frappucinos). What time works best for you? 2-ish?

You have to wake up pretty early in the morning to be as evil as I am. Evil! Evil!

I think I like Ascham so much because he is so psychotically unpredictable. It's so very wonderfully creepy the way he's giving reverence to Summers' bloody clothing. Whoooo - creepy. And kewl.

I like to play with Ascham, he's so delightfully warped! I just need to keep the focus on his ultimate ambition (the perfect union of the Force and Borg tech), because it's so easy to go off on a tangent with, like you say, an unpredictable character.

I'm glad you like him too - free for all writing, maybe you could take a stab at him sometime!
