web pet peeves
Dec. 5th, 2001 11:50 am- Mis-spellings (is that even spelled right?) Lots of "there/their/they're" errors.
- "Under Construction" pages - if its under construction why not keep it under wraps until its done, instead of providing this useless teaser?
- Punctuation errors. The plural of "FAQ" is "FAQs", not "FAQ's".
- List of "Related Web Links" - in a Word document(??)
- Images saved in the incorrect file format for their information. Some of the photos are awful because they are saved as .gifs instead of .jpegs. Sometimes its excusable due to ignorance, but the creators in question know better.
- Excessive informality. Cutesy walking bears are not appropriate except on a childrens' site! Which leads me to another anathema:
- Animated gifs. These turn me into a rabid Klingon. They are not appropriate, guzzle bandwidth and are unprofessional. They Must Go.
- Vanity sites with no information except gratuitous pictures of the staff.
