Fencing Etiquette, etc.
Jan. 15th, 2004 10:18 pmDon't rush off the strip to answer your cell phone in the middle of a bout. I'm pretty sure it's illegal in competition and I don't care if it was your mom! Had this been a real duel, your opponent could have stabbed you in the back :P
Apart from this rather severe breach of protocol (for which I will tease the perpetrator mercilessly), fencing went quite well tonight. Despite the cold, quite a few people showed up, including a couple of new folks. I fenced almost everyone there, including a new person who surprised me by being very fast and aggressive!
One of my goals for the year was to make my job more interesting, and this has happened, but not quite in the way I expected! The person in charge of content management for the site is being phased out, and I will be taking over part of her job - deciding where new content goes, if it should go, etc. There will still be some review from the public affairs folks. This rearrangement will also cut out the middleman, leaving me with a lot of direct contact with requestors - I guess all that customer service in retail will not be entirely for naught!
If I can just straggle out in the cold tomorrow and then back home, I can look forward an evening curled up under a blanket with a book and a hot chocolate. I think I'm turning into a hobbit (inspects feet)..
Time to get a snack and then to bed.
