Got out to rapier practice today and did 2 solid hours of drills - rigorous but useful. I'm still not ready to bout yet, but that suits me just fine. The weapon itself is feeling much more natural in my hand, so I AM making progress.
I was soaked when I left, and wasn't sure whether this was due to the unseasonably warm weather or overexertion. Turns out I've been working on a low fever all day :( If I'm still burning tomorrow I WILL take the day off, I swear!
Don't know why it's so hard for me to take sick leave; I guess I feel like if I am well enough to have fun (i.e. fence), I'm certainly well enough to do work.
Actually, wait a sec, I do know why - it's a hangover from my school days, and I can practially hear my mom's voice echoing in my head ("if you're well enough to draw, you're well enough to be at school!")
Nonetheless, fever = stay home, if only because I'm contagious to others. Yeah, that's right, I'm staying home for the good of the office....
