I did well at fencing tonight.

I mean, really well - not just scoring one more point than I did last week against this or that opponent, but actually winning! Somehow I was able to tune out the judge and the screaming buzzers of the score boxes.

Not sure what to think. While my cynical cautious side is suspicious of the scoring equipment, I still dare to think - might I actually be getting good at this?

allow me to calculate the probability of scoring equipment being faulty definitly significantly smaller than the calculated probability of you making fencing progress. you are way too modest.

You won your fencing match!!! That's fantastic - I'm completely impressed by that, truly. I've seen fencing before and can appreciate its complexities and difficulties. I'm sure you must feel very good about it.

Thank you both! It's taken me (thinks).. 3 1/2 years to get this far. Usually I'm happy just to do a little better each week, but I admit I'm rather pleased with myself that I am starting to win bouts!

A couple of my fencing buddies are bugging me to compete, but it's just not feasible right now, for a variety of reasons. Maybe one day...
