Part of my fencing "assignment" Tues. was to wear out my opponent. Provoke them into a long attack and then take the advantage.

Tuesday this didn't work the way I wanted it to. My feints are still not convincing, so my "provoking" consisted of closing the distance and hoping I had enough space/time to parry-riposte. It felt too much like my fairly passive defensive game, and didn't do that much to tire my opponent.

Tonight was a smidge different.

Same plan, but I noticed something re: distance - when leading them on, make sure I buy enough space to accommodate my opponents' long lunges (i.e., give them space to wear themselves out whilst keeping safe/buying time).

This worked a few times. I still don't have prime for the times they closed the distance too fast, but, it's something.
