anotheranon: (lister)
Instead of starting the year with a new sewing project, I'm going through old files on a search and destroy mission, in a concerted (really, truly, honestly) effort to finally get organized.

I don't enjoy the process - it's tedious and time-consuming. I'm also butting into my preconceived notions of "being organized" as meaning "dull, uncreative, anal list-maker". Intellectually I know the latter isn't true but I think at the root of it all is this stupid fear that having a place for everything and everything in its place would suck all the spontaneity out of life.

I have ample proof that this isn't true - my "spontaneous" "organization" style has left me with a pile of junk (only partly literal - I'm not a freakish hoarder) that takes so much time to work around that I can't just dive in on whatever inspiration I've got going.

So I'm trying to seriously cull, starting with extraordinarily outdated paperwork.
