I am a crazy person.
Last night (LATE last night) went to an all-night fencing marathon as part of the "half time" show, doing a demo with my historic group between pools and DEs. Given the late hour and my lack of practice, I was surprised that it was some of the best rapier I've fenced in quite awhile - no intrusion of foil disengages, and I remembered to cut at close range. I think the audience was impressed and some may join us to play with larger, heavier weapons.
The drive to and from was long but not too burdensome - mostly 2 lane back streets. I saw a lot of live deer and, sadly, smaller roadkill.
Today, went out and fenced an all-women's tournament. There were only 8 of us, all unrated (read: no intimidating lettered people) so it was rather evenly matched all around, and I did fairly well: I tied for 3rd and got a medal (medals seem to be usual for the top 3 at even the smallest local events and are therefore not usually noteworthy, but this was a first for me!). Got to see K. who has been working like mad for her E for quite awhile finally see all that hard work pay off :)
Tonight: were going to go to haunted house but decided vegging was better. Smallville with brilliant Chloe pushing the most passive superhero ever; Primeval with dinosaurs and rugged Scottish-accented professor-type.
