3 hour skirt
May. 31st, 2008 05:12 pmOk, I'm exaggerating a bit - I didn't make this from scratch. It was a refit of Miyake skirt Vogue pattern 2566 (lamentably not included in Gail Roehm's listing but the gather/wrap style is most similar to the ones on the left). Originally I made it a size too big and on the wrong side of the fabric (cotton spandex does have sides, as it turns out) and it was wearable but not always comfortable or flattering.
In my closet cleanout I found it again and though I'd not worn it in years I still liked the design and contrast fabric so I painstakingly unpicked it before I went to Atlanta. Today I turned the fabric over, dug out my old pattern and re-marked it, and from there it was short work to gather/tuck/reapply the snap tape:

This is what I did today instead of heading out to the Jefferson's library exhibit - threat of thunder, rain, and hail all day tended to put a damper on the idea :( There will be another time.
Edit 6-7-2008: The skirt pattern is (amazingly!) still in print.
