Fun to ponder beyond the usual "what if Hitler had won WWII?" or "what if my parents had never met?":
What if I'd bothered to talk to some of the "knights" fighting on my college campus? I might have discovered the SCA and discovered the pleasures of heavy duty academic reading, historic costuming, and fencing (! fencing! What if I'd picked up a blade in college?) long before I finally did.
Would a parallel universe in which I did this necessarily have excluded my college raving years?
What if I'd stayed with radio and DJing instead of getting discouraged by a bastard college boyfriend (what if I'd never met bastard college boyfriend)?
What if any of a dozen little things that happened to make me question myself over the years had never happened - or what if MORE of them had happened?
The Oxford mathematicians' theory dictates that "every time a new physical possibility is explored, the universe splits". Given that these are usually tiny, trivial-at-the-time differences, more exotic possibilities such as "What if Kisia had been a dog?" and "What if Claudia Black and Viggo Mortenson were my kinky neighbors?" are kinda off the table :P
