Hmm....
Been watching season 9 of Stargate. I'm about 3 episodes in and able to keep up - the series seems to have "rebooted" when they brought Ben Browder on board.
In addition to
Claudia Black in a corset, I'm noticing a distinctly anti-religious bent to the story: lots of talk about how just because beings are on a "higher plane of existence" and have real power doesn't mean they deserve worship, and references to freeing other people from the influence of false gods.
I find this theme intriguing, because Zogby et. al. paint the U.S. as a largely religious country yet Stargate seems to be enormously popular (at least for a sci-fi series). Are earlier seasons like this as well?
