memicry and a thought

With the Medieval Congress coming up in 3ish weeks, I can't help but think again how much my dad would have loved something like this and how it's a pity that he didn't live to have gone with me sometime. Despite all the differences I had with him over the years, history buffery was something we shared and I remember being envious last year of an acquaintance who went with her dad.

Today I finally had a time to edit/upload more fencing doublet pix:

I also got off my butt and made my golf ball target for sport foil (and to a lesser extent, smallsword) point control practice - damn but that thing is hard to hit, and hence, good practice!

Easy to make though, once I drilled through the golf ball's crunchy exterior to get at the mushy middle (we are a two Dremel tool family - this pleases me :))

weekend in review

This weekend was the first chance I've had to catch my breath all month. It was good :)

Some social stuff went on: geekchick's birthday at the Multimeat Palace was fun and tasty (mmm, dead animal!), meeting new people and catching up with some I've not seen in a loooong time :)

This morning was Indian buffet with former co-worker E. and his fiancee C. - haha, I've found another Miyake fan!! And ate a metric buttload of Indian food (butter chicken, mmmmm).

Such culinary adventures on a recovering stomach = I am officially never going to eat again, at least not until I get really, really hungry :P

I fell asleep on the sofa reading as I'm making a deliberate effort to read the books I've got in hand.

Crawling along on the tuxedo pants. I hand sewed the waistband and lining while watching multiple episodes of "Mythbusters" (which featured in turn, the tree cannon, the chicken cannon, and the drainpipe human cannon). Maybe it's the lack of challenge, but I've been too lazy to actually put them on and start hemming (besides, televisual cannons, woohoo!)
