anotheranon: (fencing)
Did NOT have a good night at fencing last night.

2 weeks of going/doing on rich/weird food and too much caffiene eaten on an irregular schedule have taken their toll on my digestive system and with every lunge I thought my innards were going to fall onto the strip :( This morning I'm a bit better but still feel like I ought to be some sort of corset to hold everything in.

Interesting observation: even in pain I can still get my head into the game somewhat, but the jolts prevent it staying there. Footwork or bladework, but doG don't make me do both at once...

Still, I did do one decent bout (against someone who was very tired) but I'm disappointed that I didn't drill better. I had trouble keeping up and didn't get much out of it, and I suspect my practice partners didn't either.

And I want to compete? What am I thinking?
anotheranon: (cats)
This is the 3rd day of D.'s new job, and I think I'm adjusting a bit.

Mornings require some orchestration so that we don't step on each other's feet in the bathroom or kitchen. So far, he's getting up first to exercise and get to work early, so I'm showering while he works out and making breakfast while he showers.

I get home before him, so this gives me an hour or so of "alone time" to check email, tidy, and otherwise putter before cooking dinner. This is good because it gives me a chance to decompress before doing more stuff.

What's amusing is the feline response to the new schedule :P Thang and Other Thang seem a bit confused in the mornings and follow us downstairs. Kisia in particular is on alert because I think she enjoyed having a "stay-at-home human" and just watches him from the bed. She's also more affectionate at bedtime.

When I get home they both come downstairs, however briefly, which didn't always used to be the case - they'll never admit to getting lonely.

Now the weekend's here and we're really going to break their brains by going back on the old schedule... :P
