things that are old are new again (?)

Rave is experiencing a rebirth/remix in the UK. Sounds like a lot of the crucial elements are there: pounding beats (albeit more rocky than electronic) - check, crazy clothes - check, dance all night - check, prevalence of E - check.

The one thing that boggles is the skin-tight jeans - these are not possible to dance all night in 'cos they stick! I know, I tried back in the day :P

housekeeping

Today I decided that just because I love costume history, there's no reason to keep the past 10 years of fashion in my own closet :P Today I vacuumed out and went about throwing some things away, or trying to.

A couple of obvious things that I never wear or don't fit are going to Goodwill/the fabric stash, but I happened across some old faves I've not worn in an age but simply CAN'T part with:

• Red velvet smoking jack that has always been too big for me but just looks (and feels) SOOOO good!
  
• a tuxedo shirt that incredibly still fits
  
• a brocade Chinese mandarin top that also incredibly still fits, as long as I don't try and raise my arms :P
  
• 4 pairs of jeans that don't fit but that I might be able to alter/cut into something useful.
  

Couple of other items I'm debating whether I'm going to keep or not.

Also still crawling along on the Spanish-English translation of the photocopies I made over the holidays. Most days I find the time to plug at least a paragraph or two into Babel Fish and paste the results into a document, highlighting the words it couldn't translate as I go.

Anyone read Spanish?
