well, like THAT'S news )

It is early and cold, but I've got my long "aging Jedi" wrap sweater and New Rock boots. Now if there were only such a thing as a self-heating hand lotion, I'd be set :)

New reading strategy: instead of flipping through the catalogs during breakfast, I'm reading some of the articles I photocopied at the Textile Museum library. There's nothing to wake up the mind like rural costume in Elizabethan Essex :) Admittedly, this may be just me :P

Not dissing all the catalogs though - Archie McPhee's latest is wonderfully twisted. I'm especially amused by the bleak wristbands and the very strange array of action figures.

So, the Middle Ages never happened due to the "Phantom Time Hypothesis", put forth at this link. To be fair, Illig isn't suggesting that ALL of the Middle ages were falsified, just the ~300 years between 614 and 911. This could be due to a clerical error, or, more excitingly, a conspiracy theory on the part of the Catholic Church.

This has got to be one of the larger piles of shit I think I've ever heard! I'd put forth more spirited venting about truly insane revisionism, but to be honest I'm tired to the point of stupid and just can't cough up the words. I know several of y'all are medeivalists/historians of various stripes - what say you? Have you even heard of this - it was news to me until a co-worker told me about it today.
