weekend in review
Apr. 24th, 2005 08:37 pmNot as gorgeous a weekend as last. Indeed, even though the weather hasn't gone completely down the toilet it's certainly circling the drain - rainy, windy, and the temperature has fallen about 30F since Thursday :/
Which is just as well, in a way - D. caught my cold, partly due to my own selfishness (kissed him before completely recovered - after a week of not kissing my husband I tend to miss it, I find), and I suppose if you have to linger indoors it might as well be when the weather sucks. He's taking chamomile tea and every zinc lozenge available, so hopefully his won't last as long as mine did!
I worked on the corset, tacking down the edge binding all around. It irks me how I start itching to start something new before the present project is even finished - I really need to start living in the moment, or I'll wind up with even more stuff sitting in bags (case in point: a partlet that has been in the works for over 2 years) :P
Also fenced today, my first rapier bouts :) I did poorly, but scored a single good, solid touch which I rate as pretty damn good for my first time out! Two weeks of travel/illness = I haven't been lifting my free weights as usual, and even though they're dinky it really makes a difference, because I really had trouble keeping my arm up and extended during drills (and no, I wasn't using my 3 lb monster :P)
My mom sent me a gag gift of Darth Tater, finally available after selling out everywhere. The earnest, teeth-gritting dark expression in the potato's eyes just cracks me up! Attempts to get the cats to wear the helmet were not successful. Darth Tater is now protecting D.'s stash of echinacea :P
Mom further advised me that another Star Wars tie-in is the release of dark chocolate M&Ms (!!) I've not seen them myself but if true it's a been a damn long time coming - why should only milk chocolate fans get the candy crunch?
Time to fold some laundry and give the cats some much needed love. Spice in particular has developed a habit of following us around the house - she doesn't like to be alone, but in typical feline fashion won't admit it ;)
