This has felt like a curiously long week, though I'm fairly sure it wasn't. Maybe it's the longer days messing with my perceptions...

Spring is trying to happen. The air has that kind of mulchy moistness to it (due in part, at least, to the recent landscaping in our complex). I think the cherry blossom tree outside my office was noticeably further along this evening than it was in the morning, but it's still rather chilly.

Made a very clean win against A. last night at fencing practice, 5-1, but he made me work for it! Good news is that I'm starting to break the habit of parrying my opponents's blades into my leg, thus avoiding adding yet another layer of bruises to the lovely array I've accumulated on my right thigh that seem to be taking forever and a day to heal up :P

I'm going to try and clean out the pantry this weekend with the regular pasta that we shouldn't eat and the canned food that we aren't going to eat put in bags to go to a food bank (once I find one that's local/open weekends - any suggestions appreciated). Having said this - a small (like 7-8") plate of ground beef spaghetti (with whole wheat pasta) is just about perfect ~ 2 hours pre-fencing - not too little, not too much, and mostly protein :)

I'm still working steadily on the corset. I'm at that stage where a lot of the edge binding has to be done by hand as sewing it on the machine would likely break needles on the boning (or in this case, cable ties). I do this while watching "junk" tv - I suppose I should be listening to some books on tape or something a little less like fast food for the brain, but sometimes you just want the mental equivalent of a milkshake, you know?

Work is still going in fits and starts so I've been taking the downtime to brush up on.... algebra. UMUC undergrad comp. sci has college level algebra as a prerequisite and while the grad program doesn't demand the same, I figure it's been long enough that I should probably brush up. Incredibly, I seem to get it this go around! There's something so calming about exponents and radicals all falling neatly in a logical row...

Will try and create some more thoughtful, less "documentary" style posts, full of links and shiny things this weekend. Maybe.
