I did get out to the new American Indian museum today. The weather was gray and colder, and I was right - this improved the ventilation in the metro, somewhat.
The museum itself: rather crowded, but it IS new and was still less populated than it's likely to be this summer. Grievances: a lot of space seems devoted to halls and stairways rather than to exhibits, and some of these exhibits require use of a (frequently in use and probably unhygenic) touch-screen kiosk to get information about the objects in the case.
Otherwise - there's a lot to see, and I think most regions and tribes seem to my limited knowledge to be fairly comprehensive. Surprising goodie: the Cherokee section was done in collaboration with the North Carolina Cherokee museum on the reservation I visited many times as a child (my maternal grandmother lived nearby). Many happy memories there :)
Also got a good walk out of the trip as well :)
Not overly thrilled with getting back to work tomorrow, but one can't have everything :P
