I'll spare you the saga of the all-day cooking and careful timing of oven use so that everything would be ready by 5.

D.'s turkey was excellent - brining all night + stuffing and spice rub = moist, juicy meat :) It was only the two of us, so it was only an 11-12 lb bird, but it was very very good.

The rest of the menu:

Cornbread stuffing recipe from my mom, made out of a whole cornbread I whipped up last night. D. cut the chicken broth used from 1 cup to around 2 tablespoons and avoided the "soggy stuffing" syndrome.

Broccoli casserole, one of those concoctions made with a vegetable, a Campbell's soup, and cheese that only ever seems to show up at Thanksgiving/other family gatherings. I figured we needed some green to offer relief from the carboydrates present in the....

Mashed red potatoes. Was going to season with primavera sauce but D. made gravy with the turkey drippings, which was much better :)

Pumpkin pie - combination of two recipes, one of which called for an entire container of Cool Whip. 1 container CW + other ingredients = enough for two pies, D. running out to store for another crust while I was mixing up so we had someplace to put all this filling...I didn't remember liking pumpkin pie from my childhood but after smelling it baking for an hour I decided to give it another go. Me likey - custardy and flavor-spicey with a graham cracker crust :)

Tomorrow I start behaving again, really - though I'll need to eat something of substance because I'm giving blood on my lunch hour.

Of course, I'm just saying that to justify taking a slice o' pie to work ;)
