Ignobel awards
Oct. 8th, 2004 08:27 amWith all the discussion about the Nobel Prizes at
tommdroid's journal and elsewhere, I thought I'd include the venerable Igs. For those who haven't heard of them, the awards are given to real scientific papers and studies, but one sometimes wonders how these studies ever got funding - and that's part of the humor, IMHO :P
Among this year's winners: the Ig for Public Health went to a study investigating the Five Second Rule, Engineering went to the guys that patented the combover, and Medicine went to the paper "The Effect of Country Music on Suicide".
Enjoy, and have a snicker - it's all for science!
