doctor, doctor

Had my long-awaited doctor's appointment today. Very efficent and busy practice, but I did get some reassurance that I'm not imagining things regarding my weird breakouts/muscle aches.

I was referred to a dermatologist for the former, and sent to the lab to take blood for tests to rule out the Big Bads (lupus, lyme, rheumatoid arthritis, and some other things I didn't recognize) to see what the muscle aches are all about. Hopefully will get results in about 2 weeks or so. Until then, I'm to take Advil/Ibuprofen if I'm hurting before any great exertion (like fencing. Hell yes I'm still fencing!)

Had a fever much of the evening. Went out to dinner with K. She works at a local Navy hospital that is treating some of the soldiers coming back from Iraq. Remind me, I should never bitch about my job again! :(

D. exercised his great talent for finding really good movies yet again, this time Man on Fire. Denzel Washington knows how to choose some very good roles for himself. Could be interpreted as a samurai story, and maybe even part Leon, The Professional. Very good. Go see.

It is cool, humid, and rainy - rather like living in a fish's mouth :P I'm going to go sleep and try and roast out this fever.

Trying to check with the autocrat for next weekend's symposium - my registration check never cleared and I want to know Just What The Deal Is.

I can always pay at the door, but I was hoping to save some overall travel expenses by having food on site paid for, plus the proceedings of the symposium (learning materials, whee!)

Classes are looking bigger, better, stronger - I see that Irish/Scottish costuming, patten-making, Eastern costuming, and hair/headwear classes have been added since I last checked in. Also something called "Presenting Costume Research: Articles and Conferences", which I will almost certainl never need to know, but.. you never know...

Update 5:40 pm Autocrat got back to me - I AM registered, they're just shifting paperwork around and wanted to wait until they were organized before running to the bank. I'm IN :)
