Today I finished out my ASP.NET class. It was very good because it had a lot of exercises in addition to the lecture, and as I learn by doing I think it is (was?) finally starting to mesh in my mind. I'm on fire to start a project at work or on my own, because it's been my experience that I take these classes and then forget everything because I never end up using it :P
So, I'm finishing up, pretty confident, and Learning Tree does offer an exam after the class - mostly for people going for a certification/college credit, but it doesn't cost extra and I thought it would be fun to take as some sort of "proof" to myself that at least for one, shining moment I knew the ins and outs of Visual Studio :P
I swear to doG, no sooner than I'm presented with that little form with the fill-in bubbles on it, than I'm back in college during final exams: my heart is pounding and I start reading the questions far to fast and drawing blanks on questions which I was sure, so sure, that I knew the answers to....
I was always freaked by tests and exams in school, and it's just sad how that's the same, even though I kept telling myself that it wasn't for credit, didn't count towards a grade, etc. I did manage to slow down enough to read the questions, but I still doubt whether the results (I'll get them in a week or so) will reflect anything resembling my abilities under actual working conditions :P
Got home, took 2 hour nap, as I've been going on ~6 hours of sleep/night for the past week and feeling generally "off" all week. I think I can say with confidence that I do have a bit of a summer cold, so I'm going to try and take it as easy as possible.
Tomorrow: lecture on historical wedding traditions at the DAR Museum, then home for more rest.
