Oppose the Federal Marriage Amendment right here.
Some more information about it, if you're wondering what I'm talking about.
Full text of the proposed amendment here, if you want it straight from the horse's mouth (tried to get it from
thomas.loc.gov, but it timed out).

I've said for awhile that if the states or federal government had quietly made gay marriage legal, I doubt anyone would have batted an eyelid. However, the Bush administration has latched onto this issue for the campaign season, in what I percieve to be a cynical attempt to gain more votes while merrily trampling the rights of U.S. citizens. Therefore religious conservatives and others squicked by the idea of two boys/two girls kissing are gleefully and vocally supporting the amendment, and I fear that Congress-critters will be so cowed by the selfish fear of losing their precious seats that they'll vote in favor, whether they really against/apathetic to same-sex marriage or not.
Maybe I'm just naive or something, but I always thought amendments to the Constitution were supposed to
give more rights, not take them away!
I know I'm probably preaching to the choir here, but for pity's sake fill out the damned online petition - can't hurt, might help, only takes a minute of your time.
