Despite my exhortations to some of y'all that I'd get out to Pride today, it just wasn't meant to be. D. and I slept late this morning, and after breakfast (or rather, lunch), D. promptly took a nap that lasted until well after our window of trying to meet anyone downtown. I have to admit I was a little sluggish myself and dozed off while reading :/

After watching Kisia watch birds for a bit and gathering our collective wits, I suggested we check out a local used book store that neither D. or I had visited before, but that we'd both seen from the road. I figured it was a low key way to get out of the house, and we both love used bookstores, besides :)

I remember way back when I was very small my dad had a favorite shop where he used to trade in his already-read sci-fi for new books, and it was a kind of "treat" when we all got to go as a family. This was that same kind of bookstore - older, musty, never knew what I might find around the next shelf :)

I managed to get out with only a couple of books, chief among them a cheap copy of an out-of-print history of embroidery that might make a good gift for someone if I don't use it anytime soon. I'll definitely go back.

Slobbing around this weekend has only one drawback - it's very hard to get back into the routine of things. Laundry is festering in the basement and I really ought to eat something today besides water, coffee (decaf!) and chocolate chip cookies (on sale at the grocery bakery. Shoot me :P)

I think it's time to go move the darks over and see how my second try at ceviche (less oil, more tasty?) works out.

and another recipe for your amusement, gacked from indyansel )
