I've kept myself busy but not harried this week - a triumph of moderation, believe me :)
I cut out D.'s robe... but didn't start sewing on it. Did lots of research on shiny hussar uniforms (more on that in a later post) but have kept my word and not laid scissor on fabric yet. This has given me time to read some of the fruits of my library trip slowly enough for it to sink in the first time (I am a chronic re-reader because I read too fast!)
This evening I've spent scanning in photos of a g o r g e o u s Austrian hussar's jacket (miles of silver braid!) and listening to D. sorting mp3s in the next room - he seems to have an unaccountable fascination with remixed Christmas carols this evening (Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong's "It's Cold Outside". With a lazy drum machine. It doesn't sound like it ought to work, but it does). Further discovery - Haircut 100's "Love Plus One" is the most invasive earworm ever!
From
respect_otters because she says it lots better than I can: another good reason not to shop at Walmart (and a later post with even more). Now you know why I won't shop there (besides, Target is just cooler). I highly recommend the Respectful Otter feed in general - lots of thoughtful commentary in there.
Plans for the weekend: My teeth are rather on edge because I feel like I should be at the March for Women's Lives on Sunday, but I have prior plans. Honest, and for true, had I not already paid the registration fee for my class, I'd be on the Mall bright and early. I owe Planned Parenthood some serious cash/volunteer karma :/
What I AM doing this weekend is the 19th century dueling saber (see Upcoming Events). This is someone well-regarded from out west who evidently never gets out this way. I see bruises in my future ;)
