More Costume Con stuff: the Future Fashion Folio is a booklet of designs by CC attendees that can be made for yet another competition. Emphasis is on fashion over costume - it has to be "wearable" and believable.

Lord of the Rings is one of the themes for the FFF this year (big surprise!) and some of the designs are quite amusing. There's an Elven pirate (waiting for sighs of rapture from the Bloom-fangirl gallery ;) ) but the best, IMHO is the "Futuristic Ring Wraith", less for the design itself, but for the description: "It's the ultimate Hell's Angel - a Nazgul mounted on a motorcycle. No ordinary bike though: he rides a SAURON MORDOR ALL UTILITY GRINDER (SMAUG), forged in the armories of Barad-dur"...

I find it equally amusing that one of the more flamboyant designers last year is described as a "perpetrator" rather than costumer :P Sewing as offensive art?

Sitting here on Leap Day and it's turned spring right in time for March - temperatures in the 60sF, light wind, bright and sunny. I opened the window, airing out the house and officially starting the new season of Cat TV, for which Spice is very grateful :)

Also on schedule with the dress; cut out the beret (headpiece) today in the same color, which I plan to decorate within an inch of it's life with rhinestones and marabou feathers.

Curiously found myself with free time (!) and read a bit. I'm working on The Terrorist Next Door. It's a rather depressing book about the history of right-wing militia groups in the United States, but something I figure I ought to read, as I think I have more to fear from terrorists in my own country than from anywhere else. To relieve the tension I'm switching out with Mendoza in Hollywood, but I'm really trying to save it for jury duty.

Also surfed the net a bit (natch); I was surprised that no one has done a flash version of The Dot and the Line, which I remember fondly from middle school art class. But considering all of the incredibly obscure and strange stuff up at Kontraband and elsewhere, I can imagine where something like this might be a bit too long/sedate to be popular.

Now I'm off to tackle the Sunday night bedtime readjustment to get ready for the week at work. Hopefully no golden retrievers; also hopefully I'll have some time to sit down with ASP.Net again.
