cabin fever

Ok, so I didn't SEE the ice, but it's definitely there! I got ready for work and asked D. to drive. Our front steps were so iced up, he refused to drive in it (this is a person who spent his formative driving years in Lake Tahoe, so I defer to his experience).

So, I'm at home again, and starting to feel a bit shut in, to tell the truth!

Gonna cut out the Pink Thing and then exercise so my back won't hate me.

Other news: got very swank holographic fabric samples from Lycrahouse yesterday; not as plasticy as I'd like but nice nonetheless. Good to know about for the future.

Ok, going to try and stay away from the computer today so I can Do This Thing.

Pink Project part 1: Stays

Finally got the photos uploaded: they are the first things in the slideshow in my Historic Costuming photo folder.

Some notes re: style/shape: These are made to go under a ca. 1800-1815 Regency or "empire" gown (think Josephine, or Dolley Madison). The intention wasn't to pinch the waist, but to smooth the waist and belly while pushing your bust upwards - sort of a long-line push up bra, which it does admirably :)

The two holes in the front are for the laces that hold the busk in place - this was laced tightly enough that it stayed on it's own. Because of the length of the stays, you stand/sit up very straight indeed with these on! The lacing at the hips is so you can sit down comfortably!
