Debateable (though I don't see the appeal of Mr. Bloom; I don't even think he's that good of an actor [ducks]), but I AM looking forward to Return of the King. The likelihood of my seeing it anytime this week is virtually nil, however - the theaters will be packed and I'm not sure when I'm going to be able to set aside 3 1/2 hours - maybe Christmas Eve?

Wish I could say that the morning has dawned still and bright, but it is in fact windy and still rather cloudy. I've donned my sturdy boots in preparation for digging chipping my car out and am hoping that we don't see more snow until the new year!

Clothing angst: I have lots of long winter skirts to wear, but they all fall prey to static cling when I wear tights. Can anyone recommend a slip that doesn't add to the problem? It would really expand my wardrobe!

Here's hoping I wake up by the time I get to work :P

Or some such. A friend asked me recently why I send out "Christmas" cards (my word, not hers). I had meant to say "holiday" cards, but even being this far out from Christian practice and traditional trees, lights etc. it still fell easily off my tongue (or in this case, keyboard).

So it got me to thinking - why DO I still celebrate <insert winter holiday here>?

What I've discovered is: I celebrate Christmas because 1) habit 2) I can't get away from it, and 3) I actually enjoy some of it, if it's not forced on me and if it's not to excess.

If you have a cat:

1) Get highly realistic-looking but completely artificial plastic insects (roaches are nice)

2) Stick to wall just out of reach with tape or blutack

3) Watch.

Miss Spice is currently having a personal crisis trying to reach the "bug" crawling on her wall. She's jumping, she's meowing at it, she's looking desperately for something to stand on so she can reach the damned thing!

I'm so mean ;)
