weekend in review
Nov. 9th, 2003 08:16 pmNot a bad 2 days off - I realized with joy late Friday that I'm also getting Tuesday off as well, so it's almost like tomorrow is just a small dent in a continuing weekend (or so I am telling myself :P)
Got most of the things on my to-do list done. Can't explain it, but I always find a certain peace to be found in striking things off a list - it's like I can actually SEE my obligations diminishing :)
Party was very good; inherited leftovercrack Oreos and have been trying to behave much of the day. Possibly recruited some folks to my fencing club or MASHS; goodie, more people to whoop on!
Re: fencing: rapier went well; this group really focuses on one-on-one (or at least, one-on-few) lessons which is enormously helpful as I'm coming in midstream, so to speak. My head is jam packed trying to remember the different guard positions, "finding the sword", strong against weak, the blade is always strongest in the direction it is facing, angles, etc. (and if this makes no sense to you, it's ok - I'm mostly typing it as a memory aid)! Also tried a bit of duelling (as opposed to modern) saber - fast and fun, and not nearly as complicated!
Successfully caught up on sleep only to fall behind by staying out late last night/getting up early (relatively speaking) today. I'm still groggy from a nap I took around 5 and my mind feels like it's treading in quicksand, to a degree.

Going to try and move some laundry around and do some crunches before bed.
