Incredibly...

I'm going to work today. I was up until about 1:30 last night, but given that I'd slept in yesterday morning and had no intention of using melatonin last night, it's all good - spending time with friends is more important than sleep.

We had folks over - no fireworks but lots of food and good conversation :)

We watched Wet Hot American Summer, a parody of all of those 1980s summer camp movies. The bit with Skylab was especially touched. And the bit with the insane war vet cafeteria worker. The entire thing was touched. And very American :P

I feel pretty good. Will crash hard tonight though!

Misc. Buffy thought - any couple of which Willow is a member is terrifically cute. Willow + Oz = cute, Willow + Tara = extremely cute. Hell, Willow could date the Marquis de Sade and they would be adorable.

Bad animal news

Fire ants adapt to cold weather - no shocker there. My grandmother lives just under the TN state line and is having problems with these. Isn't it great to know they're not only vicious and swarming, but that they can survive the winter too? Joy....

Really nasty snakehead fish that can survive out of water - this is seafood I won't even eat. Apparently this creature is some exotic pet that was released into the wild and is currently wreacking havoc locally.
