"Everything I learned about fencing I learned from my cat" department: Watch the feet. Spice always watches mine or D.'s feet to see if we're trying to come pet her. She ignores our reaching arms, as there is no real committment to advance until the feet move forward. It is much the same in fencing. I'm learning to not react to an opponent extending their foil until they actually come towards me.
Talked to my sister about the Harry Potter novels - she was thrilled that I'd finished them and wanted to speculate about the 5th book. "Goblet of Fire" is a monster, and I'm not surprised to hear that the next one may not come out until next year.
Now to go try and squeeze in a tiny bit of non-Harry Potter reading before I go to sleep.
