..and there was much rejoicing

Got a call back from the training company I've been bugging since December - the XML class I've been struggling to take is FINALLY happening, so I will finally add that arrow to my quiver. Yay! And it looks to be a small class (5 people or less) so I'll be able to ask lots of questions - as I'm sure I will need to do.

a small triumph

Today I beat one of my classes' best fencers. He's been fencing for 11 years and has been a good tutor to me as well, but I finally *got* him. I am rather pleased with myself!

I wasn't even going to stay for Club, but I let myself get sucked in. I think what happened is I quit simply reacting and took the time to watch what he was doing. He was less able to take me by surprise.

Its a small thing and it will probably be a long time before I can best someone that much better than myself, so I thought it was worthy of note.
