crowded working quarters

I think I'm the only one here who has a sense of personal space and privacy!

I spent the day in my supervisor's office, as the multimedia machine/video camera are kept in there and we were doing camera work today. The 3-4 of us in there were cramped and often interrupted by the supervisor making phone calls. I hate being in the room when someone is on the phone - everyone automatically has to shut up, and (in my case at least), feel like I ought not to be there - I just don't want to hear other people's private conversations. It also seemed like we were getting on his nerves after the first hour or so.

Returned to my own office only to realize that my officemate was making a very obvious personal call - went and heated lunch, etc. because I just don't want to know.

Is it so much to ask that I be able to work in my own 4'x4' patch of floor without being irritated/being irritating?

Gahh.. this will not work long term.

(no subject)

Called my parents today. Turns out it snowed in Georgia (!), so my dad never made it to the doctor's appointment that would let him know whether he is ready to work/travel, the doctor's office being closed because of the weather (like all sensible offices should. I'd enjoy snow much more if it didn't always mean I had to haul out of bed to drive to work in it).

Also, my mom is experiencing some changes in her job so they're not sure when they can visit - not this month, surely. Which is sad - I am looking forward to them visiting. Still, Life(TM) does have a habit of sneaking up on you, and hopefully they can come up before long.

Anyway, off to bed for me. I am taking bets that I won't be able to actually be in bed, reading, by 10:30 - I always aim for that and always miss.
