Well, I survived the day with little or no anxiety.

We got up late - my cold seems to be going from the stuffy to the running stage and the meds I took last night kept me asleep until about 10:30.

We got up with tea, hot chocolate and muffins for breakfast, and then proceeded to open gifts. Lots of goodies and some real surprises - I now have the complete set of Monty Python episodes and movies to consider. Watching them with D. is interesting because he never grew up with the TV show even though he has seen the movies.

We threw the cats a fish party followed by a catnip party - they are now well fed, stoned, and completely asleep. They also played with their new toys and leftover wrapping paper between nibbles until they passed out. I think they had a good day :)

We watched Python most of the day, interspersed with occasional sniffing and nose-blowing from me. The day was also punctuated by Christmas calls from relatives and friends around and about, though I was completely unable to reach my parents - either they were on the road or no one answered at my grandmother's. I will probably hear from them tonight.

Christmas is such a strange day out of the year - everything stops. Which is not inherently a bad thing - I can honestly say I'm not exactly jumping up and down at the prospect of getting up for work tomorrow. Still, it's just disorienting for me.

Hopefully I will feel better by tomorrow. I feel like I have no choice but to go to work as I am not running a fever and am functional with decongestants.

Now looking fwd to New Year's. D. and I want to have folks over. Chocolate for everyone!
