1st drawing class
Sep. 17th, 2002 10:40 pm... and I am intrigued. We started out drawing from a still life - a simple white styrofoam cube and ball. DAMN it was difficult!
I learned how to draw accurately from photographs as a kid, and this is NOT the same thing. Photos are flat, everything is brought up to the same field of vision (i.e., the background doesn't fade out), and while I got to be a pretty good mechanical copyist it has really interfered with my ability to draw what I see in situ, and it shows.
So my ego has been bruised a bit, but it's nothing I can't recover from. And hey, I took the class to LEARN something, right?
Note to self: this place offers drawing with a live model, if I ever get that good.
