Jul. 8th, 2002 07:14 pmSo here's the big decision. I'd like to take an art class this fall - it's been a very long time since I took any formal art direction and I'd like to get back into it a bit. Here's what I'm considering:
Beginning Formal Drawing
Pros:
Cons:
or
Jewelry and Metalsmithing
Pros:
Cons:
Possible con for both - they may already be filled.
So better get my butt in gear and make up my mind!
Beginning Formal Drawing
Pros:
- Tuesdays won't interfere with fencing, which I plan to continue
- I've never had the opportunity to draw from anything in life, though as a kid I could copy photos pretty well
- One day a week so no extensive lab hours
Cons:
- Seems like 8 weeks is awfully short - would I really learn anything here?
- I technically already know how to draw, maybe just need to get back into practice
or
Jewelry and Metalsmithing
Pros:
- I've always wanted to learn welding/melting/casting so I could make jewelry more elaborate than simple wire looping and hacking shapes out of sheet metal with a Dremel tool, and I never really had the time/facilities
- Shiny, shiny!
- Learn to use new materials, work in 3 dimensions
Cons:
- This is a community college class - includes lab time and exams
- Post-work hours time is on Thursdays (I think), conflicting with fencing
Possible con for both - they may already be filled.
So better get my butt in gear and make up my mind!
