hunger
I had a long practice today and am as hungry as a horse!
I fence on a semi-full stomach - too little and I am non-functional, too much and I'm weighted down. Most practices are in the evening after a modest dinner, but Sunday mornings I start on a bowl of oatmeal and am ready to hoover when I get out!
Problem - huge Valentine's breakfast and dinner yesterday woke me up with a stomachache so I'm resisting the urge to order a giant greasy pizza or something similar. Officially, we're having leftovers tonight, but after a modest peanut butter sandwich and a hot chocolate I'm sitting here craving red meat.
Which is unusual - I don't eat a lot of beef, and when I do, not much, but after I've been active for several hours what I really want is a rare steak and a salad (not feasible, and probably more food than I can actually eat).
I'm being sensible right now because I know how miserable I can make myself when my eyes are bigger than my stomach, but I feel like a hungry animal growling in a corner...

If you were here, you could have a bit of my steak ... ;p
Or, and much easier, I just cook a full-sized steak of whatever cut, slice off what I know I can actually eat, and use the rest thinly sliced in salad or pasta or something for the next night (or, if that's not what my tastebuds are in the mood for, I'll just freeze the uneaten portion as a convenient thaw and use for another day)
