After a much needed prod from B. who reminded me that these things tend to sell out their hotel blocks, I reserved my room/mailed the registration for the NAC E yesterday. NAC = North American Cup, y'all, and I hope it's not as big and scary as it sounds.

Well, that's a lie - I am going mostly because it WILL be big and scary, and therefore a good learning experience. That, and it's near enough my mom and sister that I can visit with them after I get done having my ass handed to me.

And before someone comments that I'm selling myself short, I'm just being realistic here - it's a very large national competition! I genuinely do not expect to do well. That's part of the challenge - get clock cleaned without getting totally demoralized.

I am intrigued but nervous, and imagine I'll be more so the closer I get.

Still need to iron out the logistics, as I'll be leaving directly from some training downtown and will need to drag my luggage to class and thence to the airport.

But yeah, the ball is rolling.

It is big. And it is scary. But after the initial OMG is over, NACs really can be a thrill. I hope you have a great time! I've always relished my NACs. Once, I even ended up in a pool with an Olympian...talk about uber cool!)
