  • 15:47 I'm always surprised when I'm told I'm a "costume expert". I know so little and make few things compared to really hardcore costumers.
  • 15:47 And, the previous is not a plea for compliments - I genuinely do not get it.

I find it hilarious that most of my fellow cataloguers think I'm a web design expert just because I can do minimum html and produce a primitive department webpage (which mainly consists of links to other webpages that contain online tools) ;p

D. has told me - repeatedly - that I'm perceived as a costume expert because I know "one more thing than they do". And while he's not wrong, I feel obliged to point those flattering me towards people who know that one (or more!) thing than I do!

***GRIN*** Y'know, as part of his stand-up repertoire Billy Connolly tells a very funny story about his becoming a musician in his youth ... he started taking banjo lessons and two weeks later became the instructor; the guy teaching him had only been a few pages ahead in the how-to book and Billy caught up. ;-)

(pretty sure that tale is on his "Billy and Albert" album ... the whole thing a wonderful giggly listen if your library has it)
