IMO, there is absolutely no point to a sweater that doesn't have long, or at least 3/4, sleeves (unless it is knitted from cotton and intended to be extra cool-and-breathing summer gear rather than something warm). But then I also think shrugs are equally pointless ... the sleeves without the sweater. :p
