twilight of a series

Potterdammerung: it's what's for dinner (or, at least, midnight snack) ;)

D. and I are going to a local book launch party, mostly to satisfy my curiosity because I've never been to any of the previous Harry Potter book "premieres" (though I did arrange for Saturday morning delivery of the last book), and this is obviously the last chance.

I'm not as huge a fan as my sister, and if it were up to me I might wait a week or so before getting "Deathly Hallows", but as I suspect she'll be doing a marathon weekend reading and call me on fire to talk all things Potter by Sunday night, I figure I'd better get on the ball. It's one of the interests she and I share and I don't want to let that down.

Anyone else blocking off the weekend (or any part thereof) for Pottermania?

Was going to, decided not to.

Saw your post, and with that kind of overexposure I can't say I blame you terribly.

As it was with the last one, I rushed through it to the point where I don't remember much of it. So, this go 'round, I'm getting it but taking my time.

Are you headed over for the crazy Silver Spring party? We were thinking about it, but are just going to see the movie with a friend instead I think.

No, that one looked just TOO overwhelming to me! The one we're attending is at the local community college book store.

We went to go see the movie at a theater next building over from a Borders. I'd toyed with the idea of sticking around and going over there, but when we left the theater at 11:45, the line at the bookstore was unbelievable. I've got a copy coming sometime tomorrow from Amazon, so no compelling reason to stay out all night.

How was the release party?

I'm going to my local bookstore's party. With the new job starting on Monday, I won't hit the movie this weeknd. But, I do want to hit the new movie at some time soon.

One of the big downtown bookstores is holding a big HP launch party ...

... and Hell's Angels from all over the continent are arriving in the city to celebrate ten years in Calgary, with the festivities starting tonight. (my mind keeps wanting to find a connection between these two events)

Between the anxious book-buyers driving out and about (there are two Chapters superstores in my neighbourhood, which are also doing the HP thing), and the large numbers of bikes I've been hearing roaring up and down the streets all afternoon and evening, staying in and reading today's comic shop purchases is the most appealing option ... :p
