green

That would be my description of Seattle in a nutshell: miles and miles of every shade of green. Even the stereotypically gray skies made the green look all the more vivid. Yes, it's a beautiful city, and I hope this is the first of many visits!

It was a hectic but excellent visit, primarily undertaken for my brother-in-law's wedding. Leaving out identifying details, I've always had a great relationship with my in-laws and it's regrettable that we don't get to see them more often. D.'s mom helped us get out there, because weddings are the PERFECT reason for the entire clan to get together to exchange stories and generally hang out :)

Also met the new family (BIL's new in-laws) and they are equally as interesting and creative and delightful as everyone else!

Much excellent, bad-for-me food was eaten (there were 100+ restaurants within a mile of our hotel, and we tried some of the best), so much breathtaking scenery was absorbed, I think I blew a retina (including a day trip Saturday to a Tulip Festival - I didn't know tulips came in magenta!), and we even had time for some general touristy stuff (drooled on many costumes and other paraphernalia here and here).

Random observations: I can now sleep in my contacts with little incident, which bodes well for future travel convenience. I can only take so much grease and sugar, even of the high-quality kind. And rolling hills of GREEN....

Rather like the weekend before it, I had such a good time I wished it would never end, but in terms of sheer overwhelm needed to go home, desperately!

Just rejoining the world and it's jarring to find out about the VA Tech shooting and realize that there is still a lot of February being dumped in my April, weather-wise.

Still catching up on email and LJ - if there's something I've gotta gotta see drop me a line or I may miss it...
