so, THAT's where it came from!

I'm so behind the cool kids these days, but I think I've finally found an origin story for the "I'm in your x, ying your z" meme. I find the medieval version especially funny, for some reason :P

Comprehensive gallery here; be advised that some aren't work/child safe and most are tasteless.

Stuart Horner on raver g gave a complete explanation as well. The Bayaux Tapestry version is hilarious. I guess the "i'm in your x, Y-ing your z" phrase is to the oughts what "all your bases are belong to us" was to the 90s.

Oh, then I'm way behind the loop, because I'm pretty sure I never saw the "All your base" thing until 2002 or so :P

Nothing to do with this, but where in the DC area do you fence?

The club where I take classes and usually free fence is here (http://www.fencer.com/ccfc.html); I've also visited here (www.recgov.org/r&w/nihfence/) a couple of times.

All my historic fencing is through these guys (http://www.mashs.org), though it's not been often lately.

Why do you ask?

A friend who lives in Laurel is looking. I told her I'd ask you.

If you could tell me her favored weapon(s), level of experience, and what kind of instruction she's seeking, I might be able to give better suggestions.

She's a newbie. She's never fenced before and is looking to get into it for the exercise. Right now she runs after work, but she works in DC and would like to find a way to exercise indoors.
