I resolve..
Yes, untraditional perhaps to make a reslution when the year's over half gone, but:
Went to the monthly party last night, the first "outside the house" socializing I've done in a while. Much of the conversation was about how we all worked too hard and didn't get out much. Ironically said subjects come up just at the time that 1) My schedule has cleared dramatically and 2) I've been thinking I need to reconnect with friends.
And it's not like I need to make new friends, I just need to actually see (you know, in person) the ones I already have. But I am extremely talented at finding reasons not to leave "my cave" - laziness chief among them, because much as I need "me time" to sew and read and so forth, I need to make more time for my friends.
So, I resolve to try and be more social, and not bow out of plans simply because I can't be arsed to make the effort. Exceptions made if I'm genuinely tired or have a scheduling conflict.

I made the same resolution not too long ago. I need more exercise -- I can see the middle-aged spread isn't going away with tricky diets and positive thinking -- and my treadmill is not enough. I need to join a gym.
Ah... but then I have to get out of the house and talk to people! I do that all day long! Urrghhh!
But then, like you, I realized that I need to get out among people who are not students, and I need to exercise, and so the gym is the best place for combining the two.
Let's see how long this resolve lasts....

Still though, the gym is a good idea. And if you get really into your exercise you'll be working out too hard to talk much anyway! :/
