Local peeps: Serenity?

At the request of [livejournal.com profile] zen4me: turns out I will be available the evening of June 23, so I'll take on the organizing end of this shindig. But first I need some information:

[Poll #745720]

***wishes she was local***

Wish you were too - it would be great for The Toronto Crew to sit together and MSTK3K the film :)

Is there a showing near you?

Closest showing is in Edmonton, which is nearly four hours away on the "Alberta Autobahn." As my car is starting to show signs of its age and its encounters (I've had it nearly 16 years and it's been hit by a van and a quarter-ton truck in that time), taking it on that particular highway could be classified as a suicide attempt. Ah well ... at least I've already had the pleasure of seeing "Serenity" twice on the big screen. :-)

Wish you were local too, JLS!

Did some searching on MapQuest. There are several Chinese Restaurants near the theatre. There's also a Cheesecake Factory on 2900 Wilson Blvd where folks can either get dinner or sit down for coffee and/or cheesecake.

I was thinking eating at the Drafthouse might work, as long as they open before the movie starts - 9:50 is a long time to wait for dinner :/ Failing this Chinese might be easier than Cheesecake Factory on a Friday night.

Has anyone reading been to the Drafthouse? When do they open up?

On the plus side, they do serve alcohol so we can all play the Firefly drinking game and take a gulp whenever someone says "gorram" :P

Not sure what time the AC&D opens, but having been there before - I'm not sure you want to eat the food LOL. I'm up for dinner beforehand, if it's chinese, though depending on the time it happens I may have to just go for some coffee.

Sadly, I'll have to watch everyone play the Firefly drinking game instead of participating. Gonna be a long while before I can imbibe again.

I've been a couple times; I actually saw Serenity there, back in January I think. Normally they let you in, then come around to take your order just before or soon after the movie starts. Your food arrives during the movie. You might be able to get a drink from the bar before you sit down, but I don't think you can get food that way.

I'm not sure yet, but I was thinking of going to this show. I'll see what [livejournal.com profile] geekchick thinks.

I'd already responded to the poll. ;)
