Check out The Outside Man and Serenity, a Buffy (specifically Spike)/Serenity crossover that works. Yes, there's slash, but it's very well done - in fact, ALL of it is well done in that the writer has the characterizations spot on, and devotes real time to working out the logistics of how a vampire would survive past Earth-That-Was and make his way in the black between the Alliance/Frontier planets.

Recommended!

Gah. Lovely fic.

Sometimes I miss Firefly to make me want to whip babies.

And the fic isn't even finished yet! Can't wait to see what she does with it :)

Firefly was unjustly cut off before it even had a chance to reach it's prime - at least it will live on in fandom...

I meant to say sometimes I miss Firefly enough to make me want to whip babies, paraphrasing a remark from Proulx's short story, Brokeback Mountain.

While the characters continue to live on in fandom, it still burns to know that Joss has so many stories yet to tell about the crew of Serenity and no platform to display them in. Plus, the cast loved working together and it showed.

Do you believe time moves in a circle?

Firefly starred two Canadian actors: Nathan Fillion (Mal Reynolds) and Jewel Staite (Kaylee).

Only one other American-produced science fiction show ever starred two Canadians ... it was also short-lived (although it get to stick around longer than "Firefly"). A little thing by the name of "Star Trek", created by a guy who was considered a visionary and great storyteller. Lookit how many times (and in how many media) IT came back! :-)

Ya never know ...

This IS good ... so far (I'm up to part 19). Was saving it as a reward for doing my income taxs (yes, it's done and I'm heading out to a mailbox with it right now so that I'll be able to finish reading the tale sans guilt ***grin***)

Envelope has to be postmarked by midnight April 30; usually I have 'em done sooner than this, but I've been finding more interesting things to do. Just means I'll be getting my refund in June, when everybody else has spent theirs. :p
