heirarchy of nerdiness

I'm pretty sure the correct conjugation is I am eccentric, you are geeky, they are losers....

Remarkably incomplete, though - I mean, how do, say, SCA folk view their geekiness as related, to, say, Amateur Sci Fi artists who can't get breasts right? To read this chart you'd think they are of equal geekiness, but is that really so?

It gives me pause that everyone thinks they're better than furries. I mean, I don't get furrydom (furry-ness?), but I figure they're hurting no one, and are far less frightening than ~50 year old anime fans who don't [ahem] costume to body type....

Enough with this rating, I say! Geeks, embrace your geekiness! Write fanfic with a new fury! Game with greater passion! And one can never have too many replica swords (unless they take up space of operational swords)...

What? No slot for Science fiction literature fans who catalogue all their books using Library of Congress and then put them on a Web page? I'm hurt, I'm truly hurt ... :p

And, since reading your post made this song play over and over in my head, I feel it's only right to spread the joy. (Just be thankful I didn't post "Song Inside My Head" ... yes, I DO own a track with that title)

Wouldn't that place you with "literary sci-fi-fans" and the like? Fairly high up on the food chain!

LURVE the song!!

Nah. Within my own profession, the act of cataloguing my personal collection makes me a geek. Putting on the Internet makes me a supergeek (according to a couple of the Calgary Public Library's cataloguers ***grin***) and I'm proud of it!

Glad the tune entertained. It's an Arrogant Worms song, titled "Great To Be A Nerd". :-)

Of course not! I catalogue my books with Delicious Library, a Bluetooth wireless laser barcode scanner, a Powerbook and a wireless internet connexion.

Well hello fellow cataloguing geek! D'you use Library of Congress or Dewey Decimal classification? My library is in a customized version of BookCat ... the only way it could make me happier would be if it used MARC21 coding. :-)
