weekend report

Still a bit disoriented from the time change, but here's what I've got:

Traced off hat patterns to newsprint so as not to chop up the tissue, but craned my neck a little too hard trying to sketch it out - if it is possible, I have pulled my head, or whatever muscle ends behind my ear. Ow!

Went to [livejournal.com profile] geekchick's and [livejournal.com profile] nminusone's Halloween/homewarning get together. Oddly (but pleasantly) I wasn't plagued with my usual "new person jitters" and had some very interesting and enlightening conversation, with awesome chili :)

Today I finally got my ILL of "Uniforms of the British Army, Navy and Court" (!!) and have been busily scanning away at the pattern layouts. I THINK this has what I want in it for the hussar jacket; if not, it will certainly give me some ideas. I've already noticed that it includes a sectio on American uniform - perhaps if I can find something similar to the 11th Dragoons I can find the real thing in a local museum to take a closer look.

Had a good number of trick-or-treaters for Halloween. Most memorable - a little girl dressed up in blue gingham with a stuffed dog in her pocket - I didn't realize kids still knew The Wizard of Oz :)

Lovely (if WINDY!) weather all weekend - nice teaser before winter gets here :)

Still a little boggled at the time change. It feels much "later" than it is!

Re "The Wizard of Oz": the kids may not know the BOOK, but thanks to annual broadcast, they certainly know the movie! :-)
