Anyone got a spare $22,500?

It's amazing what you can find on Ebay these days...

I'm always of a mixed emotion about items like this - on the one hand, I guess I don't mind if it goes to a knowledgeable collector who will care for it and preserve it carefully and correctly. On the other hand my inner Indiana Jones squeaks "It belongs in a museum!"

I know I could never be trusted to own something like this - a few hours in a museum with gloves on, ok, but if it were in my house I'd almost certainly spill something on it :P

Since I can't imagine a "knowledgeable collector" selling something like this on E-Bay rather than through a reputable antiquities dealer/auctioneer, my first thought is that ANYONE has gotta be better than the current owner (who likely HAS slopped ketchup on it).
