how I spent my snow day

Watching the weather and checking in with NOAA and local news sites, mostly. I didn't go in because I was worried about icing on the roads for the evening commute, but despite the exhortations of every news outlet I checked, the ice never showed up outside my window. We did have unscheduled leave policy in place, but I still feel bad about not trying harder to go in, especially now that I'm guaranteed absent every Wednesday because of jury duty. That Puritan work ethic thing lodged in my subconcious can really bum me out sometimes :P

The day was not a total loss, however. I ironed the fabric for the dress and did some research for accessories and jewelry. D. helped me try on the completed muslin tonight and it looks like a "go". I should be cutting out tomorrow night or this coming weekend.

I was also able to do some writing. I think some of it is among the best I've done in awhile - the words seemed to flow easily, something that has been the exception of late :/

Speaking of writing - check out [livejournal.com profile] patgreene's warning about an LJ user on the warpath against writers who post NC-17 fanfic to their Livejournal accounts. None of my fic appears here, but it's just a heads up (I'd include a rant against censorship, prudes, and how this blacklist won't do anything except supply horny teenagers with a list of the really good stuff, but I have a feeling I'd be preaching to the choir).

Off to take care of some last minute things and then to bed, as I think I'll almost certainly be getting up for work tomorrow.

*sigh* I don't actually think they have a case against anyone on LJ since it's considered personal webspace. As long as there is a warning of adult content, well, the journalNazis can kiss my ass. It really bothers me because it starts with fiction and then to actual content. I don't censor my LJ for anyone except perhaps myself.

Have you tried driving a stake through its heart and filling its mouth with garlic? (after all, guilt IS a vampire of the soul)
